RALEIGH--Student chefs created some nutritional dishes for patients and staff at Rex Hospital in Raleigh Wednesday as part of a school competition.
Top students from The Chef's Academy at Harrison College were competing with each other in a "real-life" setting. They prepared a meal for about 200 people at the hospital.
"This gives me the opportunity to work in an environment that I'm going to be working in the future, not the constrained parameters of a school environment," said Tyler Gillispie, student at The Chef's Academy.
Rex Hospital has made other efforts to promote healthy eating in the community, and no longer served fried food in their cafeteria.
