Ever since I was a young boy, my dream was to become a television meteorologist. A tornado swept through my hometown of Newberry, South Carolina in 1984, and ever since I have been amazed by the power of Mother Nature.
My broadcasting career began in high school when I worked part time at WKDK-AM in Newberry, South Carolina. I graduated from the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Math and later moved to Raleigh where I majored in meteorology at North Carolina State University.
After college, I was off to Lufkin, Texas where I got my first job in TV as the weekend meteorologist at KTRE-TV. One year later I was promoted to chief meteorologist. While at KTRE, I covered all types of weather from heat waves to hurricanes to tornadoes. During my time in Texas, I also earned the Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.
Now I'm proud to bring you Weather on the Ones forecasts on News 14 Carolina. I have been at the station since September 2005. In January 2007, I earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society.
