Weekday Morning Anchor
Marti Skold is a two- time Emmy Award winning journalist who brings over 20 years of broadcasting experience to the Time Warner Cable News anchor desk.
Marti has spent years chasing hurricanes and tornadoes, wading through floodwaters and reporting live from mudslides, blizzards, earthquakes and anything else mother nature could hand out. She also spent time covering the space program and many health and science stories. Marti has anchored news, weather, and hosted a daily talk show.
Growing up in Minnesota, Marti started her career at a local radio station in her hometown of Benson.
She graduated with honors from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. with a double major in Communications and English/Writing and a minor in Scandinavian Studies. Marti is very much in tune with her Norwegian and Swedish heritage and taught Norwegian in the summer while she was attending college.
Marti’s journey in journalism has taken her from Fargo, N.D. to Wilmington, N.C.. She's also worked in Buffalo, N.Y.; Syracuse, N.Y.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Miami; Los Angeles; Greenville, N.C.; and Salt Lake City. She is now happy to call News 14 Carolina home in Raleigh.
Community service has always been part of her life and career. She has emceed the Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon for 18 years in various cities and was a member of the National Advisory Board for Boys and Girls Town. Marti also worked to help grow a relatively new charity called HopeKids for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Marti is married to a North Carolina native and has a daughter Kirstin, a son Tre and a cocker spaniel named Dodger.
