CHARLOTTE -- Media outlets from across the country and around the world were in Charlotte on Tuesday morning in preparation for the upcoming Democratic National Convention.

An estimated 15,000 members of the media will be in Charlotte during convention week, and a lot of planning goes into coverage plans for broadcast, print, radio and digital outlets.

Representatives toured Time Warner Cable Arena, the Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Bank of America Stadium, learning where their stations will be allowed to set up shop, what tools are available to them and what the individual outlets need to provide both logistically and technologically.

"While this convention will be different from any convention in history, we want to be sure there's as few surprises as possible for you," said Kristie Greco, Chief Communications Officer for the DNCC.

Convention organizers say they continue to do everything in their power to accommodate the wide variety of requests in order to allow the press to bring the convention to audiences around the world.

"Holding the convention here provides us with a phenomenal organizing tool, better enabling us to train organizers, recruit volunteers and build our organization and ground game for the final push heading into to November," said DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Construction at Time Warner Cable Arena begins July 17. The convention also released a look at what the stage will look like at the stadium on Sept. 6 when President Barack Obama will accept the party's nomination. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
