WADESBORO, N.C. -- A car carrying a family of five was struck by another vehicle on Highway 52 north in Anson County Sunday morning. Troopers confirmed that one man and three children were killed.

Highway Patrol said a minivan and a sedan collided on 52 North near Little Duncan Road just after 11 am. They said Cheryl Powell Bailey crossed the center line in her van striking the car head on.

"I was getting ready to walk back in the house and heard a loud bang," said witness Reginald Sturgivant.

Sturgivant said Bailey honked and waived to him just seconds before the crash. He said after seeing the damage he quickly called 911.

"When I walked up I didn't recognize anybody that was in that car, then to find out who was in the car was a big shock," said Sturgivant.

Authorities said the accident claimed the lives of 13-year-old Latresha Wall, 10-year-old Taleyah Wall, 15-year-old Latavia Robinson and the driver, 41-year-old Ryan Robinson. Rose Robinson, 49, survived but troopers told us she is in serious condition.

According to state troopers, the three children were not wearing seat belts.

Investigators believe the 15-year-old was the Robinson's daughter and the other two children were their grandchildren.

"They were good people. I mean everybody loved them. If you asked about Ryan, everybody will tell you he is a good person and he'll do whatever he can to help you," said Sturgivant.

As for Bailey, authorities said she suffered broken bones. Bailey and Rose Robinson were taken to CMC Main.

Highway Patrol said Bailey could face charges.
