WILSON — The extreme heat does not just make a car uncomfortable to get in at first, as the high temperatures can do some damage.
Low tire pressure can cause a tire to over heat and blow out. Anyone who has not had their car inspected this season; mechanics say people should check coolant levels, tire pressure, fluids, belts and hoses, and battery life. Experts say if the battery is weak, the heat can kill it.
"Extreme heat causes a lot of stress on the cooling system of the engine and it will break down,” said Charlie Murphy with Firestone.
Mechanics also recommend paying attention to any leaks since it could be something serious and lead to long-term damage.
