CHAPEL HILL--It's almost that time of year.
"We're ready. We're ready for the football season," said UNC fan Jason Cox.
"We're really excited for the new staff. New season. Whole new Carolina," said UNC fan Will Sumrell.
Before the team hits the gridiron on Saturdays, fans got a chance to pack Kenan Stadium and catch a glimpse of who will be playing for the Tar Heels this season.
"Bryn Renner is one of my favorites. He's a great guy. Incredible quarterback," said UNC fan Cherilyn Franklin.
From autographs to pictures, the 'Meet the Heels' event was the place to be. Especially for parents trying to get their children to follow in their footsteps.
"We've got two children. Nathan is the oldest of two and I've got a four-month-old at the house. So we'll get him ready to go soon," said Cox.
Because of the sanctions the football team won't make the postseason this year regardless of their record. But if the lineup at the autograph session was any indication, the UNC community is fully supporting the team as football season approaches.
"USC last year had sanctions. Couldn't make a bowl game and all the players game back. They played. All they can do is just take it with a grain of salt and win every game you play," said Sumrell.
Winning every game would certainly be a great way to recover from the recent penalties against the football team. The ruling may keep the team from the post season but it hasn't tempered the fans enthusiasm.
"Go Heels," said UNC fan Trevor Mitchell.
And if you're a football fan, you can go start the countdown to the first game, which is less than a month away.
