HIGH POINT--Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his newly announced running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, came to the Tar Heel state Sunday to highlight their plan for the middle class.

The duo spoke to more than 1,500 supporters at Absolute Style Furniture in High Point.

They hope to restore our economy and values through a five step plan, which includes taking advantage of our energy resources, improving our nation's schools, cutting federal spending and the federal deficit, championing small businesses and making trade work.

"That means opening up new markets for our goods,” Romney said. “That also means that when people cheat like China's cheated, we're going to hold them accountable. We will not let people cheat without consequence."

As an entrepreneur himself, Romney also promised to be an advocate for small businesses.
