HIGH POINT -- The team of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan was greeted by protesters as the duo made a stop in High Point for part of their bus tour Sunday.

Thousands of supporters stood along barricades for hours in the heat just to catch a glimpse of the presidential hopeful. Dozens of protesters also attended and came armed with signs disapproving of Romney's campaign.

"There are a lot of women out here who aren't a supporter on his stance of reproductive rights. I think it's important for us to be visible and take a stand whenever there's a crowd of people who are out here supporting someone is so adamantly against these things," said protestor Adrienne Mages.

Gerrick Brenner, of Progress NC Action says it's ironic that Romney chose High Point as a campaign stop.

"Here we are at a campaign event which is outsource central that's had so many furniture jobs go overseas from High Point and the triad and this is a man who made a killing in life by dissecting companies and sending jobs overseas," he said.

Running mate Paul Ryan and his stance on health care was also a hot topic. "He picked a running mate that wants to cut Medicare. That's not accountability. That's not playing by the same rules you and I do. He's just out of touch," said Ryan.

Justin Guillory, also of Progress NC Action, agrees. "Paul Ryan is a dangerous choice for vice president. He's known for his plan to end Medicare as we know it," he said. "I think voters don't really like that and I think Mitt Romney is going to have a lot of trouble trying to explain that to voters.".

It's a highly contested election which will be decided at the polls this fall. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
