WAKE COUNTY—The TSA has launched a new screening service at RDU Airport aimed at helping frequent fliers get through the security check-in faster.
Thursday was the first day for the new program which has also been available at Charlotte-Douglas Airport since last year.
Eileen Baranowski spends a lot of time travelling to and from the Raleigh area for work.
"[I travel] maybe once a month twice a month. I work for GlaxoSmithKline. Our headquarters in the U.S. is here," said Baranowski.
Thursday, she was heading back home to Pittsburgh and got through security very easily.
"You don't have to take all your liquids out of your bag. You can usually, if you don't have heels on, you can go through straight," said Baranowski.
Baranowski used TSA Pre-Check, a new screening service for frequent travelers that officially launched at RDU Thursday.
"There are different levels of risk posed by passengers. It provides a security benefit for us by allowing us to focus more resources on those passengers that we don't know as much about compared to these individuals that are in TSA pre-check," said TSA spokesman Jon Allen.
RDU is one of 40 airports across the country that provides the TSA screening service. It's ideal for frequent travelers whose travel schedule is long on flights and short on patience.
"In three minutes I passed through security. In no time. I really like it," said frequent traveler Hao Lu.
Anyone that has ever felt like every other security line was moving faster than the one they are stuck in, TSA Pre-Check aims to help cut down on the wait to get through security while it continues to add new security measures to keep airports and airline travel safe.
"The line is dramatically shorter and it's a lot easier to get through," said Baranowski.
TSA pre-check is available to select American Airlines, Delta, United and US Airways frequent travelers. Anyone interested in learning more about the program, click here.
