GARNER—It is official, three North Carolina towns are All-America cities for 2013.
Garner, Dunn and Thomasville were named along with seven others last night at a ceremony in Denver. It follows Garner’s presentation to a panel of 12 judges on Saturday afternoon.
The announcement comes after Garner made a presentation over the weekend highlighting several citizen-led efforts including the Garner veterans memorial; and the performing arts scene at the Garner performing arts center.
Garner is the first locality in the Triangle to win the honor since Durham in 1982-83. The last Wake County municipality to earn the award was Raleigh in 1974-1975.
