FAYETTEVILLE -- Fayetteville's next mayor Nat Robertson has been sworn into office.
Robertson, along with the City of Fayetteville council members, were sworn into office Monday night at Fayetteville State University.
Robertson says he is excited and eager to start his role as mayor.
"We have had a great team of volunteers helping us with the campaign, and tonight is just kind of a new beginning. We have a lot of issues to tackle with this new city council. I am very excited to get started," said Robertson.
Robertson and this new council will serve a two year term.
Robertson narrowly beat Val Applewhite last month for the mayor seat.
Former mayor Tony Chavonne decided not to run again after four terms
