Duke Energy updates state lawmakers on coal ash cleanup

Newton says two months after 35 million gallons of coal ash spilled into the Dan River the river's water quality has returned to normal. What hasn't returned to normal is concern over coal ash in the Tarheel state.

Two killed in Granville County home fire

An elderly couple is dead after a fire tore through their home early Tuesday morning in Granville County. It happened around 2 a.m. on Hester Road in Creedmoor. The victims have been identified as Samuel Long and Madeline Long.

NCDOT clearing right-of-way for railroad siding track

State transportation crews are working on a two-mile stretch of a rail right-of-way in Haw River and Graham for installation of a passing track.
