ROWAN COUNTY—The adoptive parents of missing Rowan County teenager Erica Parsons were in juvenile court Tuesday, fighting to win back custody of their two youngest children.
DSS removed those kids from their home when Erica was reported missing in July.
The judge closed the Parsons custody hearing to reporters as soon as it began, but that didn't stop family members from saying there's only one acceptable verdict.
"They never get to see their children again...That's the only outcome I'll accept," Casey Parsons' sister, Tammy Gray, said.
Gray said Casey and Sandy Parsons don't deserve to have their children back because of how they treated Erica when she was in their care.
"Because of the things I witnessed her whole life. Abuse after abuse after abuse," Gray said.
Erica Parsons hasn't been seen in two years. Her step-brother Jamie reported her missing in July. He took the stand Tuesday.
Casey and Sandy Parsons had no comment. They're set to be back in court Wednesday, as the hearing continues.
Meanwhile, Gray is hopeful she'll get the outcome she wants.
"If there's a God I will," she said.
Sandy and Casey Parsons have not be charged with any crimes. A verdict in the custody case is expected as early as Wednesday.
