CAMP LEJEUNE—The Second Marine Expeditionary Force, headquartered at Camp Lejeune has a new commander.

In a ceremony on Friday, Lt. Gen. John Paxton handed the Second MEF flag to Maj. Gen. Raymond Fox symbolizing the transfer of command. The Second Marine Expeditionary Force encompasses about 58,000 Marines in North Carolina and South Carolina.

In March, the force returned home from a long Afghanistan deployment. New commander, Maj. Gen. Fox said he will continue the work began by Lt. Gen. Paxton.

“I'm very impressed by the operations tempo of this MEF and obviously the various things we're doing around the globe and we'll continue to make sure the marines are well trained, well taken care of, well equipped," said Fox.

Maj. Gen. Raymond Fox has been a Marine for 35 years and has over 5,000 flight hours. This is his first time being stationed at Camp Lejeune. ClientIP: UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
