FORT BRAGG—The prosecution rests in the court martial for Adam Holcomb on Fort Bragg Thursday afternoon.

Holcomb is charged with negligent homicide and is one of eight soldiers who faces charges related in the death of Pvt. Danny Chen. Chen was found shot to death by a self-inflicted gunshot wound last October while he was deployed to Afghanistan.

Among those who testified, a soldier that Chen confided in shortly before his death. Pfc. Degan Behre was the person who found Chen's body. Chen had told Behre that he wanted to commit suicide because of how he was being mistreated.

Behre said that he did not immediately tell his supervisors because he did not trust them after their mistreatment of Chen. Chen's family has supporters with them who made the journey from Manhattan for the Court Martial.

“I just hope that justice is done. That we found out the truth of what happened to him, of what happened to Danny. At the same time, I hope that the Armed Services, the Army, will look at their policy, their training, their recruitment, how do they take care of the men and women in the armed services," said Margaret Chin of the Manhattan City Council.

The defense brought one witness to the stand on Thursday and will continue their case Friday.
