CHARLOTTE -- GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will be back in North Carolina Wednesday for the second time in less than a week. The former Massachusetts governor will attend a fundraiser at the Duke Mansion in Charlotte.

Romney will meet with some big names from NASCAR. NASCAR Chief Executive Officer Brian France, car owners Rick Hendrick and Richard Childress were among the featured organizers.

It's been just three days since Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan made stops in two N.C. cities. The pair campaigned in North Carolina on Sunday, addressing hundreds of supporters at the NASCAR Institute in Mooresville and visited Absolute Styles Furniture in High Point.

North Carolina is a key state in the November presidential election and some analysts say Romney can't win the election without turning the state red.

Dozens of people are expected to protest Romney's tax plan outside the event. A group called Action NC will offer attendees fake checks of $250,000. That's the amount that protest organizers say millionaires will get in tax cuts if Romney is elected president.
