BROAD SWATH OF WEATHER TYPES THROUGH SAT PM
Freeze expected Sunday and Monday AM
TONIGHT: Rain heavy at times. Gusty winds, thunder, and snow mix with rain, possible, early morning Saturday. 39.
SATURDAY: Periods of cold rain with a brief burst of all snow, not out of the question. Rain tapers off late in the day. gusty winds. 45.
Upper level system dives our way overnight and scoots east through Saturday afternoon. This Manitoba Mauler is deep, has its own cold air, and seems bent on diversity in weather. Tonight, and early Saturday, we may experience heavy rain, gusty winds, thunder, and then a rain/snow mix, a few bursts of all snow, more gusty winds, with late Saturday PM clearing. Rain could be torrential at times. This thing will be in out and gone, but man, what a show it could put on.
I don't expect any sort of snow accumulations here in the Piedmont. The mountains of NC, look to pick ups 2-5" of snow in may areas, with heavier snow amounts in high elevation and towards the TN side (Western facing slopes).
Once the system clears, cold air arrives and we should have a hard freeze both Sunday and Monday mornings. Growing season my friends, should be OVER.
More sensible and "Fall" like weather should return starting Tuesday of next week.
